The time of snuggling up under a woolen blanket by the fire is almost over. But even in  Spring, summer and fall a wool blanket is a good buy. It keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter!

There are many benefits of this natural material.

From the long list, here are some examples of wool:

Wool is natural and renewable

Wool is considered a circular fabric because as long as there is grass to graze on, sheep will continue to grow their fleece, making it a renewable fiber. And like synthetic products, it doesn’t require fossil fuels like oil to be produced, so it’s not harmful to the planet.

It is biodegradable.

It is a fully biodegradable product, meaning it has no impact on the earth. Other non-wool (synthetic) blankets will never fully biodegrade and contribute to the ongoing microplastic pollution.

It is breathable

The fibers in wool form tiny air pockets, allowing the material to absorb and release moisture, making it extremely breathable. It also reacts with your body! It is an active fiber that helps regulate your temperature and moisture, keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

It is easy to clean

Because wool originally existed to protect the sheep’s body from the elements, it has a natural protective outer layer. This layer prevents stains from being absorbed, making them easier to remove. Most wool blankets are machine washable. See the care label for instructions.

It looks nicer for longer

Wool fibers are made up of proteins that are naturally flexible, so it resists folding and wrinkling and returns to its natural shape. During the manufacturing process, unlike other fibers, wool absorbs the dye until it is fully saturated, so the colors last longer.
